October 2021 has seen an increase of 1.31% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 15.4% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering a decrease of 0.31% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 49.75% in October 2021, a 1.46% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 24.02% in October 2021, marking a 16.67% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 20.34% in October 2021, a 12.16% rise from September 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 2.22% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s power industry during October 2021 over previous month.
Companhia de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica Paulista posted 366 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 3.17% over the previous month, followed by Energisa with 14 jobs and a 75% growth. Enel with 10 IT jobs and Iberdrola with 4 jobs, recorded a 33.33% drop and a 20% drop, respectively, while Siemens recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s power industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 98.28% share in October 2021, a 0.75% increase over September 2021. Chile featured next with a 0.98% share, down 69.23% over the previous month. Argentina recorded a 0.49% share, a drop of 77.78% compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 74.75%, down by 3.17% from September 2021. Entry Level positions with a 16.67% share, registered a decline of 1.45% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 8.58% share, flat growth over September 2021.
