UK power industry IT recruitment activity rises 2.5% in September 2021

The UK’s power industry registered a 2.5% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 1.03% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.65% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 0.38% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s power industry in September 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 47.67% in September 2021, registering a 14.58% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 19.77% share, an increase of 54.55% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 17.44%, registering an 11.76% decline from August 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 9.3%, flat growth over the previous month.

Top five power companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 8% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s power industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

National Grid posted 21 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 50% over the previous month, followed by SSE with 14 jobs and a 26.32% drop. Iberdrola with 7 IT jobs and Elektro Eletricidade E Servicos with 6 jobs, recorded a 75% flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Centrica recorded a decline of 14.29% with 6 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.12%, down by 3.45% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.6% share, registered a decline of 15.79% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 16.28% share, up 55.56% over August 2021.
