The UK’s power industry registered a 2.7% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 2.29% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.
Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.4% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.65% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.62% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s power industry in October 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 55.95% in October 2021, registering a 17.5% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Computer Support Specialists claimed a 15.48% share, an increase of 44.44% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 14.29%, registering a 29.41% decline from September 2021.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 7.14%, down 62.5% over the previous month.
Top five power companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 2.08% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s power industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
National Grid posted 17 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a drop of 19.05% over the previous month, followed by Siemens with 12 jobs and a 100% growth. Ecobee with 6 IT jobs and Centrica with 6 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 14.29% decrease, respectively, while SSE recorded a decline of 57.14% with 6 job postings during October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.62%, up by 5.17% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.24% share, registered an increase of 21.43% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 4.76% share, down 69.23% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.38%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
