The US’s power industry registered a 3.6% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.47% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.24% share in September 2022, recording an increase of 0.31% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.64% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s power industry in September 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 33.51% in September 2022, registering a 20.25% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 25.27% share, an increase of 10.03% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 23.03%, registering an 11.73% rise from August 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 10.65%, down 6.09% over the previous month.

Top five power companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 17.71% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s power industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Sunrun posted 160 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 14.29% over the previous month, followed by Duquesne Light with 140 jobs and a 32.08% growth. NextEra Energy with 133 IT jobs and Siemens with 84 jobs, recorded a 15.82% decline and a 21.74% growth, respectively, while Stem recorded an increase of 183.33% with 68 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 48.07%, up by 16.3% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 25.68% share, registered an increase of 10.67% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 25.62% share, down 4.71% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.63%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
