The US’s power industry registered a 3.7% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.15% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.04% share in August 2022, recording an increase of 0.16% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.36% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s power industry in August 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 30.02% in August 2022, registering a 21.64% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 24.48% share, an increase of 9.7% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 22.38%, registering a 64.68% rise from July 2022.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 12.71%, up 12.57% over the previous month.
Top five power companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 62.91% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s power industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
NextEra Energy posted 154 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a rise of 4.05% over the previous month, followed by Sunrun with 123 jobs and a 6050% growth. Duquesne Light with 90 IT jobs and Iberdrola with 69 jobs, recorded a 50% growth and a 5.48% decrease, respectively, while American Electric PowerInc recorded an increase of 194.74% with 56 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 44.56%, up by 2.01% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 30.29% share, registered an increase of 1.59% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 24.41% share, up 94.09% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.74%, recording a month-on-month increase of 37.5%.
