The US’s power industry registered a 5.5% rise in IT hiring activity in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 6.09% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.87% share in January 2022, recording an increase of 0.19% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 47.59% in January 2022, registering a 1.77% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 15.12% share, an increase of 6.73% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 13.47%, registering a 10.99% rise from December 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 12.64%, up 3.11% over the previous month.

 

Top five power companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 6.43% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s power industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

NextEra Energy posted 230 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a drop of 15.13% over the previous month, followed by Siemens with 228 jobs and a 36.53% growth. Schneider Electric with 56 IT jobs and Exelon with 44 jobs, recorded a 21.74% growth and an 8.33% decrease, respectively, while Dominion Energy recorded an increase of 35.71% with 38 job postings during January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.33%, up by 5.07% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 28.59% share, registered an increase of 1.58% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 19.7% share, up 13.97% over December 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.38%, recording a month-on-month decline of 14.29%.
