Al Hamudhia Substation is a 400kV substation located in Al Hamudhia, Al Anbar, Iraq.

The Al Hamudhia Substation project’s construction has begun in 2020. The works are expected to be commissioned in 2022.

Description

Al Hamudhia Substation project, which is a new substation, will be operated by Ministry of Electricity, Iraq.

The designed voltage level of the substation is 400kV and the operating voltage level is 400kV.

The step-in voltage of the project is 400kV. Upon completion, the substation will have a capacity of 760MVA.

The development of the Al Hamudhia Substation project was approved by Ministry of Electricity, Iraq in 2020. The project is expected to be commissioned in 2022.

About Ministry of Electricity, Iraq

Ministry of Electricity of Iraq (MEI) is a government owned electric commission. It is the principal organization that administers the power sector in the country. The ministry is responsible for generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Iraq. MEI classifies its operations into DG of production, DG of transmission, DG of distribution and DG of projects. The ministry is also responsible for operation maintenance and control; training and development; and importing electricity from neighboring countries such as Syria, Turkey and Iran. It imports electricity from these countries to meet Iraq’s excess electricity demand.
