Description

The project is currently owned by Mercury NZ.

The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 8 in number. The penstock diameter is 3.6m. Arapuni underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2002.

The hydro power project consists of 8 turbines, each with 26.7MW nameplate capacity.
