Asia-Pacific electricity procurement contracts activity up 26% in November 2021

There were 29 electricity procurement contracts announced in the Asia-Pacific region in November 2021, marking a rise of 26% over the last 12-month average of 23, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in November 2021 with 38 contracts and a 32.8% share, followed by Electricity Procurement with 29 contracts and a 25% share and Generation Equipment with 26 contracts and a 22.4% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement: 28 contracts and a 96.6% share
  2. Project Implementation: one contract and a 3.4% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific electricity procurement contracts in November 2021

Looking at electricity procurement contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 24 contracts with an 80% share, followed by wind with three contracts and a 10% share and hydro with two contracts and a 6.7% share.

Asia-Pacific electricity procurement contracts in November 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of electricity procurement contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,100MW from three contracts
  2. Punjab State Power (India): 100MW from one contract
  3. Electricite Du Cambodge (Cambodia): 73.9MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Azure Power (India): 767MW from two contracts
  2. Adani Green Energy (India): 333MW from one contract
  3. SJVN (India): 100MW capacity from one contract.
