Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q2 2020 with 98 contracts and a 37.8% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 94 contracts and a 36.3% share and Electricity Procurement with 31 contracts and a 12% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement: 29 contracts and a 93.5% share
  2. Project Implementation: one contract and a 3.2% share
  3. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 3.2% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific electricity procurement contracts in Q2 2020

Looking at electricity procurement contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 20 contracts with a 64.5% share, followed by thermal with five contracts and a 16.1% share and wind with five contracts and a 16.1% share.

The top issuers of electricity procurement contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  3. Tenaga Nasional (Malaysia): 490.88MW capacity from five contracts.
