Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts activity down 29% in Q1 2022

There were 60 generation equipment contracts announced in the Asia-Pacific region in Q1 2022, marking a drop of 29% over the last four-quarter average of 84, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q1 2022 with 120 contracts and a 37.2% share, followed by T&D Project with 64 contracts and a 19.8% share and Generation Equipment with 60 contracts and an 18.6% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 46 contracts and a 76.7% share
  2. Project Implementation: 11 contracts and an 18.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 3.3% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 1.7% share.

 

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts in Q1 2022

 

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 25 contracts with a 41.7% share, followed by wind with 13 contracts and a 21.7% share and thermal with 12 contracts and a 20% share.

Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts in Q1 2022: Top companies by capacity

 

The top issuers of generation equipment contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Fujian Sangang Minguang Group: 160MW from one contract
  2. Housing Development Board and Singapore Economic Development Board (Singapore): 70MW from one contract
  3. Ksv Cotton Mills Private: 2.75MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. China Power Engineering Consulting Group (China): 210MW from two contracts
  2. Shanghai Electric Power Construction (China): 150MW from one contract
  3. PowerChina Nuclear Engineering (China): 100MW capacity from one contract.
