Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts activity down 30% in Q4 2021

There were 67 generation equipment contracts announced in the Asia-Pacific region in Q4 2021, marking a drop of 30% over the last four-quarter average of 96, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q4 2021 with 167 contracts and a 43.4% share, followed by Electricity Procurement with 70 contracts and an 18.2% share and Generation Equipment with 67 contracts and a 17.4% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 61 contracts and a 91% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and a 6% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 1.5% share
  4. Project Implementation: one contract and a 1.5% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts in Q4 2021

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 26 contracts with a 39.4% share, followed by wind with 17 contracts and a 25.8% share and thermal with ten contracts and a 15.2% share.
