Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts activity up 4% in March 2022

There were 27 generation equipment contracts announced in the Asia-Pacific region in March 2022, marking a rise of 4% over the last 12-month average of 26, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in March 2022 with 60 contracts and a 37.7% share, followed by T&D Project with 34 contracts and a 21.4% share and Generation Equipment with 27 contracts and a 17% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 19 contracts and a 70.4% share
  2. Project Implementation: five contracts and an 18.5% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 7.4% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 3.7% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts in March 2022

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for ten contracts with a 37% share, followed by wind with nine contracts and a 33.3% share and thermal with seven contracts and a 25.9% share.

The top issuer of generation equipment contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific was:Housing Development Board and Singapore Economic Development Board (Singapore) with 70MW from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Shanghai Electric Power Construction (China): 150MW from one contract
  2. PowerChina Nuclear Engineering (China): 100MW from one contract
  3. Terrenus Energy (Singapore): 70MW capacity from one contract.
