Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts activity up 20% in June 2020

There were 30 generation equipment contracts announced in the Asia-Pacific region in June 2020, marking a rise of 20% over the last 12-month average of 25, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Generation Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in June 2020 with 30 contracts and a 36.6% share, followed by Power Plant with 28 contracts and a 34.1% share and Electricity Procurement with 13 contracts and a 15.9% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 23 contracts and a 76.7% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 16.7% share
  3. Project Implementation: two contracts and a 6.7% share.

Wind is top technology for Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts in June 2020

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, wind accounted for 14 contracts with a 46.7% share, followed by solar with eight contracts and a 26.7% share and thermal with five contracts and a 16.7% share.
