Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in May 2021 with 37 contracts and a 45.1% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 21 contracts and a 25.6% share and Electricity Procurement with 11 contracts and a 13.4% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 16 contracts and a 76.2% share
  2. Project Implementation: three contracts and a 14.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 4.8% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 4.8% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific generation equipment contracts in May 2021

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for eight contracts with a 40% share, followed by wind with seven contracts and a 35% share and thermal with three contracts and a 15% share.

The top issuers of generation equipment contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. State Power Investment (China): 7,200MW from one contract
  2. Neoen Australia Pty (Australia): 157MW from one contract
