Asia-Pacific power industry contracts in June 2020: India leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, India led the activity in June 2020 with 14 contracts and a share of 19.2%, up 6.5% over the previous month and down 30% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by China with 11 contracts and a share of 15.1% and Japan with ten contracts and a share of 13.7% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 20 contracts, followed by China with 11 and Australia with seven contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in June 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 32 contracts and a 47.1% share, followed by wind with 22 contracts and a 32.4% share and thermal with seven contracts and a 10.3% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in June 2020, with 30 contracts, followed by Power Plant (28) and Electricity Procurement (13).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 27 contracts and a 37% share
- Project Implementation: 24 contracts and a 32.9% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 13 contracts and a 17.8% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 6.8% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: four contracts and a 5.5% share.
Power contracts in June 2020: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 10,000MW from eight contracts
- Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan): 1,500MW from one contract
- Akita Yurihonjo Offshore Wind GK (Japan): 700MW capacity from one contract.
Power contracts in June 2020: Top winners by capacity
The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Adani Green Energy (India): 8,000MW from one contract
- Kajima (Japan): 700MW from one contract
- Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (India) and Druk Green Power (Bhutan): 600MW capacity from one contract.
