Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in March 2021: India leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, India led the activity in March 2021 with 31 tenders and a share of 30.7%, up 12.3% over the previous month and down 86% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Pakistan with 27 tenders and a share of 26.7% and Sri Lanka with eight tenders and a share of 7.9% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 216 tenders, followed by Bangladesh with 31 and Pakistan with 29 tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in March 2021
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 34 tenders and a 77.3% share, followed by thermal with seven tenders and a 15.9% share and hydro with two tenders and a 4.5% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in March 2021, with 37 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (30) and T&D Project (19).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 50 tenders and a 49.5% share
- Supply & Erection: 42 tenders and a 41.6% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: six tenders and a 5.9% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two tenders and a 2% share
- Electricity Supply: one tender and a 1% share.
Power tenders in March 2021: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Telecommunications Consultants India (India): 5,000MW from one tender
- Solar Energy Corporation of India: 1,785MW from one tender
- Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India): 800MW capacity from two tenders.
