Asia-Pacific power industry tenders in September 2020: India leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, India led the activity in September 2020 with 254 tenders and a share of 64.1%, up 7.3% over the previous month and down 14% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Pakistan with 41 tenders and a share of 10.4% and the Philippines with 27 tenders and a share of 6.8% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, India held the top spot with 297 tenders, followed by the Philippines with 64 and Bangladesh with 60 tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in September 2020
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 89 tenders and a 60.5% share, followed by thermal with 36 tenders and a 24.5% share and hydro with nine tenders and a 6.1% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Asia-Pacific as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in September 2020, with 160 tenders, followed by T&D Project (108) and Power Plant (87).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 152 tenders and a 38.4% share
- Project Implementation: 131 tenders and a 33.1% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 85 tenders and a 21.5% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 23 tenders and a 5.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: three tenders and a 0.8% share
- Electricity Supply: two tenders and a 0.5% share.
Power tenders in September 2020: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India) and IFC Advisory: 500MW from one tender
- Gujarat State Electricity (India): 210MW from one tender
- Kerala State Electricity Board (India) and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution (India): 200MW capacity from one tender.
