Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in December 2020 with 32 contracts and a 34% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 28 contracts and a 29.8% share and Electricity Procurement with 14 contracts and a 14.9% share during the month.
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 24 contracts and a 75% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: six contracts and an 18.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: one contract and a 3.1% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 3.1% share.
Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant contracts in December 2020
Looking at power plant contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 11 contracts with a 34.4% share, followed by thermal with 11 contracts and a 34.4% share and wind with six contracts and an 18.8% share.

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Mapanuepe Hydropower: 500MW from one contract
- Korea East-West Power (South Korea), Korea Electric Power (South Korea) and X-ELIO Energy (Spain): 200MW from one contract
- Hamek Investment & Construction: 150MW capacity from one contract.

- China Energy Engineering Group International Engineering (China): 600MW capacity from one contract.
