Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in January 2021 with 43 contracts and a 48.9% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 26 contracts and a 29.5% share and Electricity Procurement with 11 contracts and a 12.5% share during the month.
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 30 contracts and a 69.8% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: seven contracts and a 16.3% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: four contracts and a 9.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 4.7% share.
Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant contracts in January 2021
Looking at power plant contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 21 contracts with a 47.7% share, followed by thermal with ten contracts and a 22.7% share and wind with nine contracts and a 20.5% share.

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Gansu Province Electric Power Investment Group (China): 2,000MW from one contract
- Government of Nepal (Nepal): 679MW from one contract
