T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in January 2020 with 238 tenders and a 52.1% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 104 tenders and a 22.8% share and Power Plant with 62 tenders and a 13.6% share during the month.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 43 tenders and a 69.4% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 13 tenders and a 21% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: six tenders and a 9.7% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in January 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 50 tenders with an 82% share, followed by thermal with four tenders and a 6.6% share and hydro with four tenders and a 6.6% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in January 2020: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Ministry of Economic Affairs (Taiwan) (Taiwan): 10,000MW from one tender
  2. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 2,418MW from four tenders
  3. Bangladesh Power Development Board (Bangladesh): 400MW capacity from one tender.
