T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q1 2021 with 152 tenders and a 30.9% share, followed by Power Plant with 129 tenders and a 26.2% share and T&D Project with 126 tenders and a 25.6% share during the quarter.
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 114 tenders and an 88.4% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: ten tenders and a 7.8% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five tenders and a 3.9% share.
Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in Q1 2021
Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 113 tenders with an 86.9% share, followed by hydro with six tenders and a 4.6% share and geothermal with five tenders and a 3.8% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in Q1 2021: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of power plant tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:
- Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (India) and Telecommunications Consultants India (India): 5,000MW from one tender
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,960MW from four tenders
- Solar Energy Corporation of India: 1,785MW capacity from one tender.
