T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q2 2021 with 167 tenders and a 32.6% share, followed by Power Plant with 126 tenders and a 24.6% share and T&D Project with 91 tenders and a 17.7% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 109 tenders and an 86.5% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: ten tenders and a 7.9% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: six tenders and a 4.8% share
  4. Supply & Erection: one tender and a 0.8% share.

Solar is top technology for Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in Q2 2021

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, solar accounted for 113 tenders with an 82.5% share, followed by wind with nine tenders and a 6.6% share and hydro with seven tenders and a 5.1% share.

Asia-Pacific power plant tenders in Q2 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 3,600MW from three tenders
  2. Gujarat Industries Power (India): 2,375MW from one tender
  3. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution (India): 1,800MW capacity from 30 tenders.
