Asia-Pacific Solar technology contracts activity drops 34% in April 2021

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in April 2021 saw 31 contracts announced, marking a drop of 34% over the last 12-month average of 47, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement with 12 contracts and a 38.7% share
  2. Project Implementation: 11 contracts and a 35.5% share
  3. Supply & Erection: six contracts and a 19.4% share
  4. Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 6.5% share.

China tops Asia-Pacific solar power contracts activity

China was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology contracts recorded in April 2021 with ten contracts and a 32.3% share, followed by India with four contracts and a 12.9% share and Australia with four contracts and a 12.9% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in April 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan): 200MW from one contract
  2. Global Business Power (Philippines): 115MW from one contract
  3. Canadian Solar (Canada) and Tohoku Electric Power (Japan): 100MW capacity from one contract.

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in April 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Phanes Group (United Arab Emirates): 400MW from two contracts
  2. China Energy Engineering (China): 215MW from two contracts
  3. Juwi Shizen Energy (Japan) and Canadian Solar (Canada): 100MW capacity from one contract.
