Asia-Pacific Solar technology contracts activity drops 30% in June 2021

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in June 2021 saw 33 contracts announced, marking a drop of 30% over the last 12-month average of 47, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 14 contracts and a 42.4% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 12 contracts and a 36.4% share
  3. Supply & Erection: five contracts and a 15.2% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 6.1% share.

India tops Asia-Pacific solar power contracts activity

India was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology contracts recorded in June 2021 with 12 contracts and a 36.4% share, followed by China with seven contracts and a 21.2% share and Bangladesh with two contracts and a 6.1% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in June 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,150MW from two contracts
  2. Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan): 457MW from one contract
  3. Global Purify Power (Thailand): 225MW capacity from one contract.

Asia-Pacific solar technology contracts in June 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Acme Solar Holdings Pvt (India): 1,150MW from two contracts
  2. Abu Dhabi Future Energy (United Arab Emirates): 457MW from one contract
  3. China Energy Engineering Group Planning and Engineering (China): 230MW capacity from two contracts.
