Asia-Pacific Solar technology tenders activity drops 38% in Q3 2021

Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in Q3 2021 saw 119 tenders announced, marking a drop of 38% over the last four-quarter average of 191, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 99 tenders and an 83.2% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: eight tenders and a 6.7% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: eight tenders and a 6.7% share
  4. Supply & Erection: three tenders and a 2.5% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 0.8% share.

India tops Asia-Pacific solar power tenders activity

India was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology tenders recorded in Q3 2021 with 56 tenders and a 47.1% share, followed by Australia with 20 tenders and a 16.8% share and Pakistan with 16 tenders and a 13.4% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in Q3 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. NHPC (India): 2,345MW from six tenders
  2. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,301MW from three tenders
  3. NTPC (India) and National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan): 500MW capacity from one tender.
