Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in May 2020 saw 36 tenders announced, marking a drop of 51% over the last 12-month average of 74, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 30 tenders and an 83.3% share
  2. Supply & Erection: three tenders and an 8.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one tender and a 2.8% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 2.8% share
  5. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 2.8% share.

India tops Asia-Pacific solar power tenders activity

India was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology tenders recorded in May 2020 with 30 tenders and an 83.3% share, followed by Australia with two tenders and a 5.6% share and Malaysia with one tender and a 2.8% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in May 2020: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Malaysia): 1,000MW from one tender
  2. NTPC (India): 600MW from one tender
  3. West Bengal State Electricity Distribution (India): 200MW capacity from one tender.
