Asia-Pacific Solar technology tenders activity drops 34% in Q2 2021

Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in Q2 2021 saw 132 tenders announced, marking a drop of 34% over the last four-quarter average of 200, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 103 tenders and a 78% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven tenders and a 5.3% share
  3. Supply & Erection: seven tenders and a 5.3% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: seven tenders and a 5.3% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: five tenders and a 3.8% share
  6. Electricity Supply: three tenders and a 2.3% share.

India tops Asia-Pacific solar power tenders activity

India was the top country in the Asia-Pacific region for solar technology tenders recorded in Q2 2021 with 69 tenders and a 52.3% share, followed by Australia with 14 tenders and a 10.6% share and Pakistan with 14 tenders and a 10.6% share.

Asia-Pacific solar technology tenders in Q2 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution (India): 2,800MW from 32 tenders
  2. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 2,400MW from two tenders
  3. Gujarat Industries Power (India): 2,375MW capacity from one tender.
