Asia-Pacific T&D project contracts activity up 52% in Q3 2021

There were 41 T&D project contracts announced in the Asia-Pacific region in Q3 2021, marking a rise of 52% over the last four-quarter average of 27, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Asia-Pacific region in Q3 2021 with 135 contracts and a 34.6% share, followed by Electricity Procurement with 94 contracts and a 24.1% share and Generation Equipment with 84 contracts and a 21.5% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 30 contracts and a 73.2% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: ten contracts and a 24.4% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 2.4% share.

Wind is top technology for Asia-Pacific T&D project contracts in Q3 2021

Looking at T&D project contracts by the type of technology in the Asia-Pacific region, wind accounted for nine contracts with a 47.4% share, followed by solar with four contracts and a 21.1% share and thermal with three contracts and a 15.8% share.

Asia-Pacific T&D project contracts in Q3 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of T&D project contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Subei Luneng New Energy: 200MW from one contract
  2. Wuling Power (China): 66MW from one contract
  3. China Resources New Energy (Yixing): 42.9MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Asia-Pacific were:

  1. Power Construction Corporation of China (China): 300MW from one contract
  2. PowerChina Hubei Engineering (China): 200MW from one contract
  3. Shanghai Electric Power Construction (China): 66MW capacity from one contract.
