Az Zour North I IWPP is a 1,631MW dual-fuel fired power project. It is located in Al Ahmadi, Kuwait. The project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in June 2015.

Description

The project was developed by Shamal Az Zour Al Oula. Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects, Engie, Sumitomo and A.H. Alsagar & Bros are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 50%, 17.5%, 17.5% and 5% respectively.

It is a combined cycle gas turbine (ccgt) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Fuel Oil.

The project cost is $1,700m.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Ministry of Electricity and Water under a power purchase agreement for a period of 40 years. The contracted capacity is 1,575MW.

GE Power supplied electric generator for the project.

Engie and Sumitomo were contracted to render operations & maintenance services for the project.

Shamal Az Zour Al Oula KSC (Shamal Az Zour) is an energy company that develops Az-Zour North one power and water plant.
