The project was developed by Cemig Geracao e Transmissao, Construtora Norberto Odebrecht, Engevix Engenharia e Projetos, Furnas Centrais Eletricas, Neoenergia and Voith Hydro Holding. Neoenergia, Cemig Geracao e Transmissao and Furnas Centrais Eletricas are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 51%, 34% and 15% respectively.

Baguari is a run-of-river project. The project cost is $392.848m.
