Baihetan – Jiangsu HVDC Line, China

Baihetan – Jiangsu HVDC Line is an 800kV overhead line with a length of 2081.9km from Baihetan Dam, Butuo County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan, China, to Changshu City, Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.

The project, which is currently under construction, is expected to be commissioned in 2023.


Baihetan – Jiangsu HVDC Line is an overhead line that will be operated by State Grid Corporation of China. The line will carry direct current (AC).

The development of the Baihetan – Jiangsu HVDC Line project has been approved by the The State Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The construction works on the Baihetan – Jiangsu HVDC Line project were commenced in 2020 and commissioning is expected in 2023.

Contractors involved

China Energy Construction Group and Hitachi ABB Power Grids was appointed by State Grid Corporation of China to undertake the construction works on the Baihetan – Jiangsu HVDC Line project.
