Baluchaung-2 is a 168MW hydro power project. It is located on Baluchaung river/basin in Kayah, Myanmar. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 1954 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1960.

Description

The project was developed by Marubeni and is currently owned by Ministry of Electric Power.

The net head of the project is 423.062m. The penstock length is 1,088.136m. Baluchaung-2 underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 1987-1994; 2015-2016. The project generated 1,190 GWh of electricity.

The hydro power project consists of 6 turbines, each with 28MW nameplate capacity.
