Bemposta is a 431MW hydro power project. It is located on Douro river/basin in Braganca, Portugal. The project is currently active. It has been developed in multiple phases. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in 2011.

Description

The project was developed by EDP Gestao da Producao de Energia. Engie and Mirova are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 40% and 25% respectively.

Bemposta is a run-of-river project.

Development Status

The project got commissioned in 2011.

Contractors Involved

Bemposta (Bemposta I) is equipped with Alstom francis turbines. The phase consists of 3 turbines with 80MW nameplate capacity.

Bemposta (Bemposta II) is equipped with Andritz Hydro francis turbine. The phase consists of 1 turbine with 191MW nameplate capacity.

Alstom supplied electric generator(s) for the Bemposta (Bemposta I). The generator capacity is 78 MVA.

Andritz Hydro supplied 1 electric generator for the Bemposta (Bemposta II).
