The Benga Independent Power Project is 300MW coal fired power project. It is planned in Tete, Mozambique. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2022 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2024.

The project is being developed by Electricidade de Mocambique EP, Kibo Energy and Termoelectrica de Benga. Kibo Energy and Termoelectrica de Benga are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 65% and 35% respectively.
It is a steam turbine power plant. The fuel will be procured from Vale S.A.
The project cost is expected to be around $568.71m.
The project construction is expected to commence from 2022. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Electricidade de Mocambique EP under a power purchase agreement.
