Betan Karnali is a 688MW hydro power project. It is planned on Karnali river/basin in Seti, Nepal. The project is currently in announced stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2027 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2031.

Description
The project is being developed by Betan Karnali Sanchayakarta Hydropower. The project is co-owned by Nepal Electricity Authority and Vidhyut Utpadan, with their respective ownership stake of 10% each.
Betan Karnali is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 125 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project will be 220m. The penstock length will be 345m. The project is expected to generate 4,377.87 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $667.124m.
The hydro power project consists of 3 units of francis turbines.
Development Status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2027. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2031.
