Cardones Substation is a 500/220kV substation located in Cardones, Arica y Parinacota, Chile. The construction works on Cardones Substation began in 2016. The project was commissioned in 2017.

Description

The Cardones Substation project is an upgrade substation being operated by Transelec .

The designed voltage level of the project is 500/220kV, while the operating voltage level is 500/220kV.The step-in voltage of the substation is 500kV and the step-out voltage is 220kV. The substation capacity is 750MVA.

Cardones Substation has received approval from The National Energy Commission to undertake the works on the project.

Contractors involved

Interconexion Electrica was appointed by Transelec to undertake design and construction works of the Cardones Substation.
