Electricity procurement contracts in November 2021 saw 76 contracts announced, marking a drop of 32% over the last 12-month average of 111, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement: 72 contracts and a 94.7% share
  2. Electricity Supply: three contracts and a 3.9% share
  3. Project Implementation: one contract and a 1.3% share.

Asia-Pacific leads electricity procurement activity in November 2021

Comparing contracts activity in electricity procurement segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 29 contracts and a share of 38.2% during November 2021, followed by Europe with 21 contracts and a 27.6% share and North America with 18 contracts and a 23.7% share.

Solar is leading technology for electricity procurement contracts in November 2021

Among the technologies, solar accounted for 51 contracts with a 59.3% share, followed by wind with 28 contracts and a 32.6% share and thermal with three contracts and a 3.5% share.

The top issuers of electricity procurement contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. EDF (United States): 1,400MW from one contract
  2. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,100MW from three contracts
  3. Danske Commodities (Denmark): 480MW capacity from one contract.

Electricity procurement contracts in November 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. RWE (Germany): 1,400MW from one contract
  2. Doggerbank Offshore Wind Farm Project three Projco (United Kingdom): 1,200MW from four contracts
  3. Azure Power (India): 767MW capacity from two contracts.
