The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Power Purchase Agreement: 49 contracts and an 84.5% share
- Electricity Supply: eight contracts and a 13.8% share
- Project Implementation: one contract and a 1.7% share.
Europe leads electricity procurement activity in July 2020
Comparing contracts activity in electricity procurement segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 19 contracts and a share of 32.8% during July 2020, followed by North America with 17 contracts and a 29.3% share and Asia-Pacific with 12 contracts and a 20.7% share.

Solar is leading technology for electricity procurement contracts in July 2020
Among the technologies, solar accounted for 31 contracts with a 55.4% share, followed by wind with 18 contracts and a 32.1% share and thermal with three contracts and a 5.4% share.

The top issuers of electricity procurement contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Emirates Water and Electricity (United Arab Emirates): 2,000MW from one contract
- Electric Power Generation Enterprise (Myanmar): 1,250MW from one contract
- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing: 920MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Abu Dhabi Future Energy (United Arab Emirates), Abu Dhabi National Energy (United Arab Emirates), EDF Renewables (France) and Jinko Power Technology (China): 2,000MW from one contract
- Marubeni (Japan), Mitsui & (Japan), Sumitomo (Japan) and Eden Group (Myanmar): 1,250MW from one contract
- Orsted (Denmark): 920MW capacity from one contract.
