Solar is leading technology for electricity procurement tenders in Q1 2021

Among the technologies, solar accounted for 22 tenders with a 41.5% share, followed by wind with 14 tenders and a 26.4% share and biopower with seven tenders and a 13.2% share.

Electricity procurement tenders in Q1 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of electricity procurement tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Bundesnetzagentur (Germany): 8,100MW from 17 tenders
  2. Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (South Africa) and Government of South Africa: 2,600MW from one tender
  3. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India): 1,300MW capacity from three tenders.
