Energy storage tenders in August 2020 saw 20 tenders announced, marking a drop of 5% over the last 12-month average of 21, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: eight tenders and a 40% share
  2. Supply & Erection: six tenders and a 30% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 20% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 5% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one tender and a 5% share.

North America leads energy storage activity in August 2020

Comparing tenders activity in energy storage segment in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with eight tenders and a share of 40% during August 2020, followed by Middle East and Africa with five tenders and a 25% share and Europe with four tenders and a 20% share.

Solar is leading technology for energy storage tenders in August 2020

Among the technologies, solar accounted for nine tenders with a 69.2% share, followed by wind with two tenders and a 15.4% share and hydro with one tender and a 7.7% share.

The top issuers of energy storage tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Climate Change Transformation Board: 20MW from one tender
  2. Guyana Power & Light (Guyana): 0.04MW from one tender
