The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 44 tenders and a 65.7% share
  2. Project Implementation: 14 tenders and a 20.9% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: five tenders and a 7.5% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and a 4.5% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 1.5% share.

Comparing tenders activity in energy storage segment in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 46 tenders and a share of 68.7% during Q4 2020, followed by Middle East and Africa with seven tenders and a 10.4% share and Europe with six tenders and a 9% share.

Among the technologies, solar accounted for 23 tenders with a 65.7% share, followed by wind with four tenders and an 11.4% share and hydro with three tenders and an 8.6% share.

Energy storage tenders in Q4 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of energy storage tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Spain): 3,000MW from one tender
  2. CPS Energy (United States): 1,450MW from one tender
  3. Ministere de l’Environnement, de l’Energie et de la Mer (France): 680MW capacity from one tender.
