Europe electricity procurement contracts activity down 58% in November 2021

There were 21 electricity procurement contracts announced in the Europe region in November 2021, marking a drop of 58% over the last 12-month average of 50, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Generation Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in November 2021 with 33 contracts and a 33.7% share, followed by Electricity Procurement with 21 contracts and a 21.4% share and Power Plant with 19 contracts and a 19.4% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement: 20 contracts and a 95.2% share
  2. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 4.8% share.

Wind is top technology for Europe electricity procurement contracts in November 2021

Looking at electricity procurement contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, wind accounted for 20 contracts with a 76.9% share, followed by solar with five contracts and a 19.2% share and hydro with one contract and a 3.8% share.

Europe electricity procurement contracts in November 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of electricity procurement contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. EDF (United States): 1,400MW from one contract
  2. Danske Commodities (Denmark): 480MW from one contract
  3. Centrica Energy (United Kingdom), Shell Energy Europe (United Kingdom) and SSE Energy Supply (United Kingdom): 240MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. RWE (Germany): 1,400MW from one contract
  2. Doggerbank Offshore Wind Farm Project three Projco (United Kingdom): 1,200MW from four contracts
  3. Orsted (Denmark): 236MW capacity from two contracts.
