Europe generation equipment contracts activity up 5% in Q4 2020

There were 125 generation equipment contracts announced in the Europe region in Q4 2020, marking a rise of 5% over the last four-quarter average of 119, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Generation Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in Q4 2020 with 125 contracts and a 29.1% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 85 contracts and a 19.8% share and Power Plant with 77 contracts and a 17.9% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 111 contracts and an 88.8% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: eight contracts and a 6.4% share
  3. Project Implementation: four contracts and a 3.2% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 1.6% share.

Wind is top technology for Europe generation equipment contracts in Q4 2020

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, wind accounted for 67 contracts with a 53.6% share, followed by solar with 20 contracts and a 16% share and thermal with 18 contracts and a 14.4% share.

Europe generation equipment contracts in Q4 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of generation equipment contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. UAB Ignitis Renewables (Lithuania): 63MW from one contract
  2. The Renewables Infrastructure Group (United Kingdom): 43MW from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Nordex (Germany): 63MW from one contract
  2. Velocita Energies (France) and Envision Energy (China): 43MW from one contract.
