Europe power industry contracts in December 2019: Greece leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Greece led the activity in December 2019 with 32 contracts and a share of 27.1%, up 26% over the previous month and up 300% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Poland with 12 contracts and a share of 10.2% and Denmark with nine contracts and a share of 7.6% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 38 contracts, followed by the UK with 12 and Greece with eight contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in December 2019
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 46 contracts and a 50.5% share, followed by wind with 38 contracts and a 41.8% share and thermal with three contracts and a 3.3% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in December 2019, with 49 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (25) and T&D Equipment (20).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 56 contracts and a 47.5% share
- Supply & Erection: 46 contracts and a 39% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 11 contracts and a 9.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 2.5% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 1.7% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- KGAL Investment Management GmbH & (Germany): 440MW from one contract
- The Regulatory Authority for Energy (Greece): 327.1MW from 32 contracts
- Amazon Web Services (United States): 321MW capacity from three contracts.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- STEAG Solar Energy Solutions (Germany): 440MW from one contract
- Solaria Energia y Medio Ambiente (Spain): 357MW from two contracts
- BP (United Kingdom): 172MW capacity from two contracts.
