Europe power industry contracts in Q3 2019: France leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, France led the activity in Q3 2019 with 116 contracts and a share of 38%, up 25% over the previous quarter and up 13% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Greece with 33 contracts and a share of 10.8% and Portugal with 28 contracts and a share of 9.2% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, France held the top spot with 103 contracts, followed by the UK with 39 and Spain with 22 contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q3 2019
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 182 contracts and a 64.5% share, followed by wind with 71 contracts and a 25.2% share and thermal with 14 contracts and a 5% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in Europe power contracts activity during Q3 2019, with 188 contracts, followed by Generation Equipment (70) and Electricity Procurement (23).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 183 contracts and a 60% share
- Supply & Erection: 73 contracts and a 23.9% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 22 contracts and a 7.2% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 16 contracts and a 5.2% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: ten contracts and a 3.3% share
- Electricity Supply: one contract and a 0.3% share.
Power contracts in Q3 2019: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Ministro do Ambiente e da Transicao Energetica (Portugal): 1,150MW from 25 contracts
- Ministere de l’Environnement, de l’Energie et de la Mer (France): 857.97MW from 107 contracts
- La Compagnie Electrique de Bretagne: 446MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Siemens (Germany): 626MW from two contracts
- Windpark Fryslan (Netherlands): 382.7MW from one contract
- Akuo Energy (France): 370MW capacity from three contracts.
