Europe power industry contracts in September 2019: Germany leads activity

Looking at contracts by country, Germany led the activity in September 2019 with ten contracts and a share of 16.9%, up 12.9% over the previous month and up 67% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by the UK with eight contracts and a share of 13.6% and Spain with six contracts and a share of 10.2% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, France held the top spot with 33 contracts, followed by the UK with 11 and Greece with eight contracts.

Wind is top technology area for contracts in September 2019

Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with 33 contracts and a 61.1% share, followed by solar with ten contracts and an 18.5% share and thermal with seven contracts and a 13% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in September 2019, with 31 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (11) and Power Plant (10).

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 33 contracts and a 55.9% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 11 contracts and an 18.6% share
  3. Project Implementation: eight contracts and a 13.6% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: four contracts and a 6.8% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 5.1% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
