Europe power industry tenders in December 2019: Poland leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Poland led the activity in December 2019 with 40 tenders and a share of 48.2%, up 6.1% over the previous month and up 38% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Germany with ten tenders and a share of 12% and France with five tenders and a share of 6% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Poland held the top spot with 29 tenders, followed by Germany with six and Russian Federation with five tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in December 2019

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 14 tenders and a 41.2% share, followed by thermal with eight tenders and a 23.5% share and wind with six tenders and a 17.6% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in December 2019, with 33 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (17) and Power Plant (14).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 36 tenders and a 43.4% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 24 tenders and a 28.9% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 13 tenders and a 15.7% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: five tenders and a 6% share
  5. Electricity Supply: three tenders and a 3.6% share
  6. Power Purchase Agreement: two tenders and a 2.4% share.

Power tenders in December 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Bundesnetzagentur (Germany): 1,000MW from two tenders
  2. Elektrani na Makedonija (Macedonia): 110MW from one tender
  3. Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (Germany): 0.13MW capacity from one tender.
