Europe power industry tenders in December 2020: Poland leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Poland led the activity in December 2020 with 27 tenders and a share of 28.4%, down 4.9% over the previous month and down 13% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Lithuania with eight tenders and a share of 8.4% and France with six tenders and a share of 6.3% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Poland held the top spot with 31 tenders, followed by Germany with nine and the UK with five tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in December 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 21 tenders and a 51.2% share, followed by thermal with six tenders and a 14.6% share and wind with six tenders and a 14.6% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in December 2020, with 32 tenders, followed by Power Plant (23) and T&D Project (21).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 43 tenders and a 45.3% share
  2. Project Implementation: 36 tenders and a 37.9% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven tenders and a 7.4% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 4.2% share
  5. Others: four tenders and a 4.2% share
  6. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 1.1% share.

Power tenders in December 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Spain): 3,000MW from one tender
  2. Radomskie Przedsiebiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej Radpec Spolka Akcyjna: 22MW from one tender
  3. Nevsehir Municipality: 3.25MW capacity from one tender.
