Europe power industry tenders in January 2021: Germany leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, Germany led the activity in January 2021 with nine tenders and a share of 15.5%, up 10.4% over the previous month and up 29% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by France with six tenders and a share of 10.3% and Hungary with four tenders and a share of 6.9% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, Poland held the top spot with 31 tenders, followed by Germany with seven and the UK with five tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in January 2021
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with nine tenders and a 32.1% share, followed by thermal with eight tenders and a 28.6% share and wind with four tenders and a 14.3% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in January 2021, with 18 tenders, followed by Power Plant (17) and T&D Project (13).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 26 tenders and a 44.8% share
- Project Implementation: 22 tenders and a 37.9% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: six tenders and a 10.3% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 3.4% share
- Others: one tender and a 1.7% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 1.7% share.
Power tenders in January 2021: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Ministere de l’Ecologie, du Developpement Durable des Transports et du Logement: 1,050MW from one tender
- The Regulatory Authority for Energy (Greece): 350MW from one tender
- EnBW Energie Baden-Wurttemberg (Germany): 170MW capacity from one tender.
